YouTube “NextUp” Wants Partners to Make More Money

If you are a YouTube Partner with less than 300.000 subscribers you might want to apply for this new NextUp initiative.

In 2010 YouTube Partners generated more than 100 billion views and made millions of dollars through the revenue sharing Partner Program.

This year, 2011, they keep seeking for talented partners who want to rocket-launch their careers, generate even bigger profits and take their channels to the next level.

YouTube NextUp is about accelerating the growth of the next big YouTube stars

They are offering some cool incentives for you to sign up, so if you are a Partner don’t think twice, here is what’s up for grabs:

  • $35,000 in funding to produce a new project, purchase new tools or advance your overall YouTube careers
  • A spot at a four-day YouTube Creator Camp in which you’ll benefit from 1:1 mentoring and learn an array of production techniques from leading industry and YouTube experts
  • Promotion of your final work and channel
  • The opportunity to become better connected with a special community of aspiring and talented content creators from around the world

How To Apply For YouTube’s NextUp

Submit a short (up to three minute) video that best represents what you do and what you want to accomplish on YouTube.

They are also asking for short written responses that explain how you’d use the $35,000, why you want to be part of the program, and what you hope to learn at the YouTube Creator Camp.

All YouTube Partners can apply at youtube.com/youtubenextup by midnight PT on March 27, 2011.

Let me tell you something, last year youtube announced a similar thing for it’s 5th anniversary.

I mailed about it and one lucky HTGV member (Scott) got 2500 new subscribers, was invited to become a partner and also got featured on the homepage… OVERNIGHT (read it again here)

Why you MUST Become a Niche Celeb on YouTube in 2011

As 2010 comes to a close, I cannot help but think about the unprecedented winds of change we’ve seen this year and what’s up ahead in the new year.

Here are a couple really important points I want to share with you:

1. If you’ve followed the internet this year or for any amount of time, you know that YouTube is one of the most popular sites on the internet, actually it’s #3…the #1 site is of course Google (who now owns YouTube)

2. If you also have been thinking that good ol’ videos are just too ancient to be relevant to your success in 2011…

… then I want to introduce you to TWO young guys (and young at heart father) who should seriously rattle your cage. (And we all need our cages rattled now and then.)

These guys, the McFadden brothers, didn’t come from “nowhere” when they stunned the marketing world by ignoring obstacles and creating a video series model that can pull down 700,00 YouTube views in a weekend.

No… they started with a home made video with their Dad’s accountant Eli and a few of his dirty jokes.

And more than anyone else I know of, they channeled the most powerful part of the internets mojo…

… and it’s something you need to dig into.

Whether you aim to become the “go to guy” guru in your market or whether you just want to surpass all your competition by bringing in more action (and by “action”, I mean money, buzz and influence).

I’ve heard that folks like Tony Little, Ron Glass, Tim Matheson, Marshall Wayne, Jason Moffatt, Hot For Words, Lorraine Grula, Dave Kaminski, George Strompolos (Former Co-Founder of the YouTube Partner Program) and Weezer have called on the McFaddens — Thom, James, and Tyler — for their strategies.

I believe it, after following them and watching them work.

Two of my videos are Featured on YouTube’s Homepage right now

featured on youtube Quick update guys, my channel keeps growing every day.

It feels great waking up in the morning to such good news.

When I started How To Get Views back in February I had around 4700 subscribers. Yesterday I passed 13.000 subscribers… Not bad eh!

Anyway, here is a screenshot from YouTube’s Homepage here in Spain. I have two videos featured there right now!

I just want to say that no matter how hard you think this is, please never give up, keep learning and experimenting new stuff and you’ll soon get the attention of your audience. Focus on your niche and become a celebrity. That’s the most important advice I can give you.

Know who you are communicating with and BE ONE OF THEM, just cooler :D

New YouTube Annotation Features and Tricks

youtube annotationsYouTube annotations were launched on June 2008. Today, they have added a bunch of new features to this tool that makes it so much useful. Here they are:

A brand new annotation editor – based on user feedback, we overhauled the annotation editor and moved most of the functionality to a new side panel to streamline annotation creation, editing and deletion while leaving the player less cluttered.
New annotation type – “Title” – Title annotations enable overlaying headlines, videos titles, credits and other “big text” on top of your video, just like you would with professional video editing tools.
New Font size options – you can now select from a combined set of six font sizes.
New color options – annotations are now available in 16 background colors and 14 font colors.

To start annotating your videos, go to My Videos and choose “Annotations” from the drop down menu next to the video you wish to annotate.

YouTube annotations is an effective tool for creating videos that are engaging, interactive, informative and entertaining. Annotations can help you hold a dialog with your viewers, call upon them to take action and get higher levels of engagement.

When used correctly, YouTube Annotations can improve viewership and grow your audience, you can also use annotations to leverage the views you get on your best videos and link them to those that are not so popular.
