When I logged in YouTube this morning I found two great surprises. My main channel about card flourishes has just reached 5000 subscribers and the YouTube guys have listened to our prayers by bringing back the Channel Bulletins feature.
This is great news for all of us looking for some extra views on youtube and a better communication with our audience.
If you go to your channel now you will see a new tab on the header called “Post Bulletin”.

You can write a message to all your subscribers and even link them to a video. They will see your bulletin in their Recent Activity module (on their channel) but it will also be shown to their friends and channel visitors. You know how posting comments on people’s channels can get you some additional exposure but now with the Bulletins feature you just have to write one message to broadcast it to all your subscribers’ channels, and also their emails!
If I click a button, my video gets posted to 5000 channels (That is five thousand channels!!!)
Isn’t that awesome?
But hey, don’t be spammy here or you will start to see your subscribers count go down. What you want to make sure before you use this little trick is that the content that you are giving them is really valuable.
Sometimes just a laugh is not enough. Give them something that would make them subscribe. You have to be 100% sure they will, otherwise don’t bother trying.
You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.
So how can you use the Channel Bulletins feature to get more views to your videos? Easy, here is a list of…
5 things you can do to attract more views and subscribers
1- Set a goal of views in one of your old videos and ask for help
You want to set an achievable goal here, not something ridiculous. If you have 823 views in one video, post a bulletin saying that you are going for one thousand by the end of the weekend. You can offer your help to others in exchange, just make sure it’s a win-win situation for all parties.
2-Remind your subscribers one week after you launch a new video.
Sometimes people are subscribed to a lot of YouTube users and they simply can’t keep up with every video that gets posted every day. It happens to me, I’ve missed a lot of good ones because, well, I’m just a bit messy…
If you have a really good video then why not remember everyone to watch it after a few days?
3-Tell them about the super controversial comments you’ve got.
If you consider your subscribers more like real fans (of course they become fans of your material only when you are providing them with the best they have seen and that means it has a lot of value to them), in this case they will support you. If you’ve had some hate comments or an interesting discussion going on in one of your videos you can get them involved in it with just a little reminder.
4-Announce a contest on your youtube channel
Now it’s easier to spread the word about your contests and promotions. If you don’t have the time to shoot a video telling your subscribers what they have to do or if you just want to link them to a blog post with more detailed instructions just send them a bulletin. The good thing is that you might get some extra entries from curious youtubers lurking your friend’s channels.
5- Go viral. Without spamming
If you have a great project in mind, maybe a joint video with a lot of people involved and you want them to send you a short 5 seconds clip that you will edit and put togheter, make a meme message so you can get a lot of people to participate. Remember that if they are in the video they will want to get a lot of views on it, so the more people the stronger the promotion will be.
Again, don’t be spammy and post only when you know your bulletin is going to be read and appreciated.

It may not be working for a lot of people. It probably needs some fixing. Congratulations if you got it running smoothly.
