His main channel ShaneDawsonTV has more than 1.3 million subscribers and his videos have been watched a total of 249 million times. That’s one quarter of a billion youtube views!

Critics say his popularity lets him get away with the kind of vulgar content that would cause other users to be banned. YouTube expressly denies this, maintaining that no exceptions are made for him and that the site’s code of conduct applies to everyone on it.
Other critics have accused Mr. Dawson of “tag loading”, a promotional technique in which videomakers can increase youtube views by tagging material with popular search terms unrelated to their videos, like “xbox”, “lady gaga” or “twilight.”
There is a lot to learn from people like this guy. Don’t overlook it if you think his stuff seems stupid to you, it works, and that’s what counts.
